INTERNI’S
50 YEARS
This issue concludes our celebrations
for the first 50 years of INTERNI. We can't help but
feel satisfied with the results so far. Just take
an affectionate look at the first Italian interiors
magazine, as it appeared back in 1954, to realize
how far we have come, together: Italian design and
a magazine that has become a complete information
system for the world of design. Today making and communicating
design means taking part in a crucial process for
the competitive vitality of our country. It means
embracing a project vision that is more and more widespread
and cosmopolitan, while reinforcing the leading role
Italy has always played and must continue to play
in these areas. And Design Week in Milan is the best
time to remind our readers of this concept... This
year, to underline once again the role of Milan as
Design Capital, we decided to do something that would
leave a lasting mark. We pay tribute to the Triennale,
as the future home of the Museum of Italian Design,
by inviting well-known international designers to
create an architectural itinerary that will permanently
enhance the garden of the renowned Milanese institution.
A project that is simultaneously concrete and symbolic,
which INTERNI dedicates to the place that is the emblem
of creativity, and in a certain sense to the magazine
itself. April 2005, in fact, is the beginning of a
new publishing cycle, as can be seen in the updated
graphics, the choice of lively and timely themes on
new developments in architecture and design. This
issue marks a turning point while reinforcing our
commitment Ofor the next 50 years': to give visibility
to many aspects of design culture, with its dreams
and contradictions that accurately reflect the complex,
fascinating reality of the present.
